Simon Says Week 5-Feb 8, 2026

Feb 8, 2026    Pastor Chris Johnson

This powerful message takes us through one of the most sobering 24-hour periods in scripture. Peter's journey from passionate declaration to devastating denial. We begin at the Last Supper, where communion was first established, and follow Peter through the Garden of Gethsemane, the arrest of Jesus, and ultimately to the courtyard where a rooster's crow would mark his greatest failure. What makes this narrative so compelling is how relatable Peter becomes to us. He had the best intentions, declaring he would die for Jesus rather than deny Him, yet within hours he couldn't even stay awake to pray. But here's the beautiful redemption arc—hope never lost sight of Peter, even when Peter lost sight of hope. Jesus met him at a beachside breakfast, restored him completely, and fifty days after that Last Supper, Peter preached the most powerful sermon in history with 3,000 souls saved. The message challenges us to examine our own lives: Are we following Jesus's plan or our own? Are we getting the rest and spiritual nourishment needed to win the war in our minds? Most importantly, when we fail and we will. Will we run to our old ways or run to Jesus for restoration?
