The Essentials Week 1

What holds our faith together when believers disagree? That question sits at the heart of this exploration into the essentials of Christian belief. Drawing from a 400-year-old statement by theologian Rupertus Meldenius, we are reminded that in essentials there is unity, in non-essentials there is liberty, and in all things there is love. But the deeper challenge is knowing which is which. We walk through the difference between civil, ceremonial, and moral laws in Scripture, discovering that not every Old Testament command applies to us in the same way today, yet the moral laws rooted in God's character remain timeless. The question is not whether the Bible is true. It is entirely true. The question is whether we are reading it with honest eyes, allowing the Holy Spirit to illuminate its meaning rather than bending its words toward what we already want to believe. This is a call to pursue unity without demanding uniformity, to hold our convictions with integrity while extending grace to fellow believers who are sincerely seeking the same truth we are.
