The Essentials Week 2

Aug 16, 2026  •  Pastor Chris Johnson

What does it mean to say we worship one God? This is one of the most profound and often misunderstood claims of the Christian faith, and it sits at the heart of this week's message. We explore the doctrine of the Trinity, not as a dry theological formula, but as a living, breathing reality that shapes how we are saved, how we are sustained, and how we are seen by God. From the very first verse of Genesis, where Elohim speaks creation into existence using a plural word to describe himself, to Jesus declaring in John 10 that he and the Father are one, scripture consistently reveals a God who is three distinct persons sharing one divine nature. We are reminded that the Father is sovereign over all things, the Son has secured our salvation and holds us firmly in his hand, and the Holy Spirit drew us to faith, sealed us, and empowers us to live the life we are called to. Far from being an abstract puzzle, the Trinity is the very framework of our rescue and our daily walk with God.
