Psalm 145- Week 3
This powerful message invites us to discover the unchanging character of God through Psalm 145, where we encounter a phrase that echoes throughout Scripture: God is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. What makes this truth so profound is that God Himself spoke these words to Moses, and they reverberate through the prophets, the psalms, and into our lives today. We're reminded that God's grace doesn't always arrive in the package we expect—for David, it came through the confrontation of Nathan the prophet after his grievous sin. For Jonah, grace appeared in the belly of a fish. For us, grace might show up as a point of pain, pressure, or feeling stuck in circumstances beyond our control. The beauty is that God's goodness extends to all creation, offering us a thousand new mercies every single day—from the breath in our lungs to the taste buds that allow us to enjoy food, from friendships to healing. We're challenged to become 'noticers' of these mercies, to declare them often, and to let our lives reflect God's character by being quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. This isn't just about showing up and going through religious motions; it's about rending our hearts, not just our garments, and allowing genuine transformation from the inside out.
