Sunday Mornings 8:30am & 10:30am

Section 1

1) Start with confession. James 5∶16 says “the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man
avails much.” Psalm 66∶18 says “if I regard wickedness in my heart, the Lord will not hear.
2) Sit, stand, kneel, or walk around the room. Find the posture that works for you!
3) Pray out loud, pray silently, or sing your prayers. Just make sure your prayers come from
your heart and mind before they come from your lips.
4) This guide is merely a resource to aid you in your prayer time. Invite the Holy Spirit to guide
your prayers.
5) Be BOLD in your requests!

Section 2

CONFESSION
Search me, O God and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there by any
grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! Psalm 139∶23-24

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to Your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I
know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned and done
what is evil in Your sight, so that You may be justified in Your words and blameless in Your judgement.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not from Your
presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold
me with a willing spirit. Psalm 51∶1-4, 10-12

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all
unrighteousness. 1st John 1∶9

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of sin in your life: thoughts, actions, inaction, ignoring God’s
plan, etc.

Consider praying this Prayer of Confession:
Lord, you are merciful and kind. You are the giver of grace. You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the
cross for my sins. God, I have not listened to Your word, or obeyed Your commands, and I am sorry. I have
committed the following sins against You:__________________(name your personal, specific sins). But You,
Lord, are gracious, compassionate, and merciful to me.
God, I confess my sins, and I confess the truth of Your Word. You said that if I confess my sins, You will
cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I come before You with a humble heart, asking for Your forgiveness. I
repent of my sin. Cleanse me, Lord, and I will be clean. Restore to me the joy of my salvation and renew a right
spirit in me.

Section 3

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING
We praise God by acknowledging who He is - His character, His attributes, His qualities.

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Psalm 103∶8

I will extol You, my God and King, and bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless
You and praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable.
One generation shall commend Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts. On
the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works, I will meditate. They shall speak
of the might of Your awesome deeds, and I will declare Your greatness. They shall pour forth the fame of Your abundant
goodness and shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding
in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and His mercy is over all that He has made.
All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord, and all Your saints shall bless You! They shall
speak of the glory of Your kingdom and tell of Your power, to make known to the children of man Your
mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures
throughout all generations. The Lord is faithful in all His words and kind in all His works. The Lord upholds all who are failing
and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food in due
season. You open Your hand; You satisfy the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all His
ways and kind in all His works. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.
He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him; He also hears their cry and saves them. The Lord preserves
all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy. My mouth will speak the
praise of the Lord, and let all flesh bless His holy name forever and
ever.  Psalm 145∶1-21

We Thank God for His benefits, blessings, and actions toward us and others.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4∶6
Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His
name! Psalm 100∶4

Take time to thank God for all He has done and provided for you. (Be specific!)

PRAY FOR OUR MISSIONS PARTNERS
Here are seven simple ways to pray for missionaries:

PRAY FOR OPEN DOORS
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for
our message.... (Colossians 4∶2-3a, NIV)
PRAY:
• That God will open doors for ministry, blessing partnerships and friendships.
• That those who serve will be led by the Holy Spirit and recognize open door opportunities.
• That God will lead His people past barriers to hearts ready to receive His word.

PRAY FOR BOLDNESS
Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery
of the gospel... (Ephesians 6∶19, NIV)
PRAY:
• That the Holy Spirit will provide missionaries with words that communicate effectively in other
cultures and languages.
• That they will have boldness to overcome the fear of embarassment or failure.
• Against evil forces that would seek to hinder the spread of the gospel.

PRAY THAT GOD’S WORD WILL SPREAD
Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we ask you to pray for us. Pray that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and
be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you. (2nd Thessalonians 3∶1, NIV)
PRAY
• For strength and stamina as missionaries encounter antagonistic spiritual forces. (Ephesians 6∶10-18)
• That people will resist Satan’s plans to obstruct the spread of the gospel. (James 4∶7)
• That God’s Word will indeed spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes.

PRAY FOR PROTECTION
Pray, too, that we will be rescued from wicked and evil people, for not everyone is a believer.
(2nd Thessalonians 3∶2, NLT)
PRAY:
• That God will keep missionaries safe.
• That God will change the hearts of those who are resistant to his word.

PRAY FOR EFFECTIVE MINISTRY
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For
apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15∶5, NLT)
PRAY:
• That God will provide strength and perseverance when their ministry seems to be fruitless.
• That seeds will be planted and that missionaries would be able to see the fruits of their labor.
• That an abundant harvest will be produced as more people learn about the love of Christ.

PRAY FOR TRAVEL
And then he told me, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” (Mark 16∶15, NLT)
PRAY
• For required permissions to be granted for travel (visas and passports) and for necessary funds for
tickets and fees.
• For protection and provision during travel.
• For God’s grace and favor when challenges or obstacles appear on any journey.

PRAY FOR REFRESHMENT
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take
my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your
souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11∶28-30, NLT)
PRAY:
• That God will provide opportunities for missionaries in isolated areas to spend time with other
believers.
• That God will provide times of peace and relaxation to refresh His workers.
• For restoration - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually - that can only be found in Jesus.
